( nuhm-uh-stey )

Namaste translates to: “I bow to you.” In the Vedas, namaste is a salutation to a divinity. Today, among Hindi speakers namaste is a more formal or polite way to greet someone.

This greeting is paired with Namaskara Mudhra (mudhra: gesture, mystic/energetic seal). Namaskara Mudhra brings together left and right palms at the heart, and is also used in prayer to connect to divinity.
